Matt Crouch pieced together a career-best outing in his hometown of Ballarat on Sunday despite Adelaide going down by 34 points against the Western Bulldogs.

Crouch collected a career-high 47 disposals, making it the seventh time he has passed 40 in his career.

He ran at 81 per cent efficiency, had a team-high 594 metres gained, kicked a goal and finished with eight clearances, seven marks and five inside-50s.

Only Brisbane’s Lachie Neale had more touches in Round 23 with 51.

Adelaide’s co-captains also had an impact; Taylor Walker booted a season-high five goals from 10 disposals.

He finished with 43 goals for the season, ahead of Eddie Betts’ 37.

Rory Sloane had 34 touches and a game-high 22 contested possessions and 13 clearances.

Ruckman Sam Jacobs tallied his third-highest career hit-out haul with 58 against the Bulldogs, behind his 74 against Melbourne in 2017 and 61 against Port Adelaide in 2012.

Jacobs led all rucks in Round 23 with 25 hit-outs to advantage, while he had 15 disposals, 10 contested possessions and five clearances.

In his eighth game of the year, the 2018 No. 9 draft pick Chayce Jones had a career-best 18 disposals, two goals and seven marks.

Winger Paul Seedsman had 24 touches, while defender Brodie Smith had 27 possessions and a goal.

Smith averaged a career-high 22.9 disposals in 2019.

Adelaide’s total disposal haul of 417 was second to just Collingwood in Round 23, as the Magpies had 420, while the Bulldogs ranked third with 414.

Against the Bulldogs, Adelaide led contested possessions 157-143, hit-outs 64-29, clearances 46-41 and tackles 67-61.

With 157 contested possessions, Adelaide ranked second behind Geelong with 174.
