Adelaide has added three players to an extended bench, ahead of its Round Nine clash with Brisbane at Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon.

Midfielder Sam Berry, as well as forwards Lachlan Murphy and Chris Burgess have been included in the 26-man squad.

The Crows will enter the match against the Lions having won three of their past four games, including a 30-point victory against Port Adelaide in Showdown 55 last Thursday.

Adelaide Senior Coach Matthew Nicks said there were plenty of players knocking on the door, giving the match committee lots of options.

“The pleasing part is that we’ve got some pressure coming from guys who haven’t been selected over the past few weeks,” Nicks said.

“There will be some decisions that will be made, but in saying that, we like to stick with a group who are getting the job done.”

Nicks was expecting a tough challenge against the Lions, following their 34-point win against Gold Coast last week.

“We saw a Brisbane side (last week) that dug in, it was an incredibly gutsy win, to have the injuries they’ve had, and to still have the next guy ready to step up,” Nicks said.

“To be able to hang in there with limited rotations… it was one of the best wins they’ve been in, because of the guts they showed.

“But we want to put ourselves in positions where we don’t have to rely on a lucky bounce, we want to be a team that doesn’t need luck.

“I think you make your own luck and a lot of that comes with hard work and that’s what we’ve been doing.”

The Crows’ final team will be announced on Friday at 4.30pm (ACST).
