Premiership player James Podsiadly has attracted interest from a few clubs since being told he was no longer a required player at Geelong.

Podsiadly, 31, played 83 games for the Cats after being selected as a mature-age rookie in 2009.
He made his AFL debut at age 28 and kicked 169 goals in four seasons. The key-position forward played 23 of a possible 25 games this year, and is keen to extend his career at another club.

Justin Reid of Elite Sports Properties, the company that manages Podsiadly, said Adelaide was one of the clubs with interest in the 193cm, 102kg, goalkicker.

“The Crows have got some interest in James,” Reid told FIVEaa.

“He’s received interest from two or three clubs. We’ve just got to work through that process.”

Podsiadly, who was working as a trainer at Geelong when he was drafted, could also be a handy recruit off the field.

“Pods sees this as an opportunity (to further his playing career) but also for life after footy,” Reid said.

“He’s got a high performance/science background a bit like Brett Burton. He’d be a really good acquisition from a teaching/fitness point of view. There’s some real value there not just on the field but off it.”

Podsiadly could come under strong consideration at West Lakes if forward/ruckman Shaun McKernan, who is out of contract and exploring his options, returns to Victoria.

The Crows are keen for McKernan to remain at the Club.

“I think something might unfold later in the exchange period in regards to Shaun,” Reid said.

“He’s still a required player at the Crows, so I’ll sit down with Shauny this week … and we’ll work through that with Sando.”
